Marie Josèphe Rose Tascher de La Pagerie, called Joséphine de Beauharnais, born June 23, 1763 in Trois-Îlets in Martinique and died May 29, 1814 at the castle of Malmaison in Rueil-Malmaison, is the first wife of the Emperor Napoleon I from 1796 to 1809. As such, she was Empress of France from 1804 to 1809 and Queen of Italy from1805 to 1809.
The Empress Joséphine room, largely representative of the rooms of the late 18th early 19th century, was named this way because the family of de PERCIN, name of the Countess de KERGORLAY, was cousin of the family Tascher de la Pagerie, both families having settled in Martinique in the 17th century.
